I've seen alot around lately (mainly riden by hipsters). But I wonder what y'all think of them. It's not quite a moto scooter but not quite a motor bike either.

they're ridden by jdmbros who can't afford to ruin a DC3 integra

Cheap transportation, and tons of people do ugly stuff to them.

I had no idea what this was until this post but damn I want one real bad

It's not somewhere in between a scooter and a bike. It's a butched up scooter, with a scooter motor and knobby tires.

They should be called "Rumpus" so that I could scream "Let the wild rumpus start!" whenever I got in it.

It's faster than walking and more independent than taking the bus.

Wife had one for a while but didn't ride it - sold it for essentially what we paid for it.
Small/light enough that I could lever it into the back of the pickup by myself with a little trickery. Loved the bare-bones styling. A Honda, so it would start with a few kicks even after much time idle.
Ridiculously fun, but slow (35 mph), they can be modded to eke out a few more MPH, but if you want one that can get out of its own way, get a Big Ruckus or similar (or just spring for a 250-500cc moto).

Don't kid yourself, it is a scooter. A cool one, and because of its basic styling, is highly customizable. Also since it is a Honda, it's pretty damn hard to kill it. Don't think you are on a motorcycle though, when you ride it, you won't be able to keep up. Well, maybe you could on the Big Ruckus 250, but certainly not on the small one.

The slammed and stretched JDM stuff a lot of people do with them is meh.
Then again, there are exceptions.
Dangit, now I need a Ruckus done up motocross-style.

Does it have an engine?
![]() 09/08/2014 at 20:24 |

Supposedly

I love that

In my experience its only the wealthy "jdmbros" that have these things.

Is it a PT Cruiser, Aztek, or Murano CrossCabriolet?
![]() 09/08/2014 at 20:32 |

I would consider it in that category, yes

I need one. BUT I am a Pshycopath.

I was going to buy one but my crazy kicked in and voilà
It is less efficient, practical, and fast.

They're good pit bikes, but are too low IMO. They also cost $2k+ which is enough for a used Ninja 250.

Too expensive.
I like them, I think they're pretty neat, and have a decent aftermarket. Then I look at prices and see how much they are.

I want to build one of those. I don't care how slow, they look like fun!
![]() 09/08/2014 at 20:57 |

I caould probably make you one. I can get around 40 mph with mine.
![]() 09/08/2014 at 21:00 |

That's fast enough on a crappy bike that wasn't supposed to be motorized :)

How has no one posted this yet? I will do it for the Wu!
![]() 09/08/2014 at 21:02 |

Yeah. But I will just let you know a few things.
1 You need to work on it almost every other night.
2 when building one go to the local dump they will have 90% of what you need.

35MPH? I've gone faster than that on my bicycle:

That sounds terrifying. I wanna do it to my banana bike. My butt might get a little warm tho, And I'd want to keep the fender. Just cut out a little notch for the drive wheel/peg.
Yes I know it's ugly. I found it while helping my Father in law clean out one of his rentals after some one moved out. I'm probly going to take the cool parts and throw them on a more attractive frame. Hopefully this frame, but only if I can get it straightened. I paid 5 bucks for it a few years ago, and had given up on it. The previous owner left it outside in the winter, and it got hit by a plow. the handle bars and forks are junk, but I didn't notice the rear end was bent until after I stripped it.

That is awesome. Since your in WI I could help you out with it. I usually find motors at my dump if you want one I could get it running good or you.

Neat thing about that other bike is that it has a "skip tooth" drive train. Which means it's probly from the 30's. I think it's a Hiawatha. Which were biult in Wisconsin, and had some relationship with Schwinn but I don't remember the detains. I know for a fact that the front sprocket is a Schwinn part tho.
right now that bike looks like this tho. Actually I'm using that rack on my other bike :)
![]() 09/08/2014 at 22:20 |

Well it looks like a pretty nice bike and a semi easy fix.

I really do want to bring it back to life, have myself a sweet rat rod bike.
![]() 09/09/2014 at 00:03 |

Slightly less degrading to ride than a regular moped or scooter. Still not anywhere close to a proper motorcycle. I do like the looks though.

that has a shwinn sweetheart sprocket. Dont do anything to it, it May be valuable if it's original
![]() 09/09/2014 at 10:55 |

its more valuable to me if I have it. I know i could part out the "drive train" for about 150 bucks, but i don't want to sell it. I doubt the frame is worth anything.
![]() 09/09/2014 at 12:12 |

I'd look into it before you do anything

I like the Ruckus I just don't understand why it's so expensive. They start at $2800, when a Grom is only $400 more and a full size CBR250 is only $4200. For a little city scooter or something I think they're cool, but I would probably pony up a little more cash and get the Grom

A grom's less than 600 smacks more. Do it.
